Several pieces of information since my last post in the spring of 2012:
1. New information continues to develop about Susannah Wagstaff and her Carlin half sitsers who went from Utah to Helena, Montana. See details below.
2. A son of Rollie Ross Wagstaff contacted me and I have researched several generations. See below.
3. Several descendents of James Wagstaff, brother to Samuel who did not migrate to the United States have been located. Some details are available in Familysearch and we will post more in Ancestry.com.
4. Several descendents of Martha Wagstaff, sister to Samuel who did not migrate to the United States have been located. She married George Snow and lived in Clerkenwell in the north end of London. Indexing was the key. Some details are available in Familysearch and we will post more in Ancestry.com.

What's New
1. Rollie Ross Wagstaff Jr was killed 8 May 1955 in an airplane crash at the Salt Lake Airport.
2. It would appear that he came from Kansas and is not related to the other Wagstaff branches. I have nicknamed this branch Salt Lake Rollie.
3. Contact has just been made with descendants of the Evanston Wagstaffs. Hope good things come of this.
4. Solving the ancestry of John Wagstaff and Elizabeth Larkins would seem to depend on a radius search. This would take an enormous effort and is not likely to happen soon. Any volunteers?

What's New - 5 Aug 2011
1. It was found that the Wagstaff who migrated from Scotland to Provo was not named Frederick but was Edwin. Therefore that label has been changed to Provo Edwin. His son E. Neil Wagstaff still lives in Provo and has posted some of his family history online. More info to come.
2. The Brian Leese Research Reports have all been put under one label so that there are not so many labels.
3. You will notice that my Email has changed in the About the Author section.
4. I have deleted the Sheens from my tree. They are not related.
5. We recently made a trip to Helena, Montana that was very interesting and productive. We now have the marriage and burial records for Margaret and Mary Carlin and for Susannah Wagstaff. We now know their children and in some case gandchildren and on down. We are putting this all together and will give details in a future post.
6. My public tree on Ancestry has been very productive. A number of people have contacted me with new information. So dear reader, I owe you a lot. It will all come in future postings. If you can not wait then contact me.

1. I forgot to give the name of the person who has the info on Susannah Wagstaff. He is Christopher Mentrum. He has a Public Family Tree in Ancestry.com which can be viewed even though you are not an Ancestry subscriber.
2. I Have discovered a new Wagstaff line in the Intermountain West. He is Rolly Wagstaff. He died in an airplane crash. More info to follow.
3. I am publishing my entire Wagstaff pedigree to the world. Go to Ancestry.com. Search for a family tree using the name David Edson Wagstaff. It is not complete yet but I am working on it.
4. A interest I have are the war dead who are our kin. One died at the Bridge Over the River Kwai, another was killed over France just before D-Day. A third one was killed in germany by a land mine just before VE Day. More to come on this one.

Wat's New
Well, I am back in business. I had computer problems that took a few months and then I spent the winter in Yuma, Arizona where the internet access was not the best. I have my excuses but in the meantime readers of my blog really laid some bombshells on me.
1. After thinking that I might never know what happened to Susannah Wagstaff (1866) I received two comments on my blog from John Earl from Portland, Oregon. He told me that she went to the mining district of Western Montana with two of her half sisters, Margaret and May Carlin who had married miners. John Earl is a descendent of Margaret.
Susannah Wagstaff married John Mentrum on 1 Nov 1888 in either Clark or Helena, Montana. She had three sons. John born in 1890 died as a teenager. Leonard born in 1891 married and eventually moved to Portland where his descendents still live. They have been in the sheet metal business. One of the family has put a pedigree and some fabulous photos, certificates and other images in Ancestry.com. Clarence born in 1894 moved to New York City where he was in the US Marines. I have not yet looked for more information about him.
Susannah Wagstaff was buried as Susan Mentrum in 1897 in the Forestdale Cemetery in Helena, Montana.
Oh Susannah, you are found at last!
2. Roger Ward contacted me to tell me that he had read my blog. He is one of our distant cousins who resides in Upper Caldicote, Bedfordshire. I have been hearing about him for decades. He probably knows more about Wagstaff Family History that any of the rest of us. He volunteered to help in any way he could. He has a pedigree in Ancestry.com but it is still private. We have been thinking about the best way to share what we have. One possibility is through Ancestry.com. I have an international subscription (it actually belongs to my wife but she lets me use it). With the recent announcement that Ancestry will be in all Family History Centers, there is the possibility that anyone even without a subscription could see the pedigree at any Family History Center. Ancestry's capablity of showing sources, images and stories is quite exciting.
Let me know if you have any ideas or would like to see some of the materials that we are accumulating.

2. Addition branches of the family have been found.
a. Mary Ann Bullock Wagstaff had a sister, Elizabeth Wagstaff Shupe, who migrated before her and settled in the area of Ogden, Utah.
b. Marie Loveridge who married James Sheen was the daughter of Sarah Wagstaff and grandaughter of John Wagstaff and Elizabeth Larkins. The Sheens settled in Smithfield, Utah and their descendents spread out, e. g., Kaysville and Salem.
c. John Wagstaff married Sarah Ann Molyneux (previously married to Willam Shaw) of Evanston Wyoming in 1909 in Croydon. He was born in Lancashire, England in 1839. He seems to be another branch.
3. We have made several trips to local cemeteries in Utah and Wyoming. We have photographed several hundred headstones. Eventually they will be put up on Find a Grave.
4. I am trying to follow up on info from Willis Peterson about the Bedforshire Wagstaff descendant who was a sculpture and moved to China. He had two sons who died in WWII in the Orient. Anyone have more info? I got a little further info that his son was killed in the British defense of Hong Kong against the Japanese.
5. I am putting hundreds of images into my RootsMagic and hope to have post them here in this blog.
